British composer John Barry, who won five Oscars and best known for the soundtracks of 11 James Bond movies, has died at age 77 old, his family said Monday.
Barry died Sunday in New York, where he lived the last years of a heart attack.
was born on November 3, 1933.
is often cited as having a style that is based on the extensive use of brass instruments and the exotic strings, on a par with being a musician, innovator, being the first to use synthesizers in a film score (On Her Majesty's Secret Service).
Not only composed music for film, as their collaboration with television has been enormous, both in films and television series.
